Tim Widgar is considered to be one of Swedens most promising electronic music talents. His evidently progressive and somewhat distinctive style has been worked on for almost a decade and nurtured by the music production team at Brighton University. After leaving his beloved Stockholm in search of inspiration, ideas and contacts Tim began to build on his experience of the music industry working with the likes of the D&B record label 'Shogun Audio'.
He calls himself a Jack of Many Trades because of his skills in various artistic areas. Though his main focus has always been the musical side, from very early age he has also a visually artistic side with everything from painting, photographing, designing etc.
After moving to Brighton, UK, he also began to develop an understanding for film and video, both musically and visually. On his 3 year Music Production course he focused massively on developing scoring for motion picture but also kept working on his filming skills on the side. For his final year project he then decided to do it all, in one go: Create a short film from the scratch and create the music for it. Though with a twist, all the music had do to be made before the filming started, you can see the film and read more about it here or scroll down.
With a wide range of instrumental skills, including everything from guitar, piano and the tuba. Tim enjoys every side of the music making, from playing, to recording, to processing, to listening, to experiencing it.
When he lived back in Stockholm he used to run club nights, in which he found DJing. After 3 years of networking and improving his skills he had performed on most of the capitols major clubs.
With talent, skill, a daring attitude and more ambition than we can place; the future is certainly bright for Tim Widgar - BROGUE MAGAZINE
BEAUTIFUL RUIN - Film By Tim Widgar
Synopsis: In a post-apocalyptic world, where the reason for its cause
is unknown, we get to follow a mans search for other human
existence. He soon notices strange occurrences around him
and falls deeper into a monophobic state of mind. What has
become of the others?
After many years of producing electronic music under the alias DiaVandy which was focused on chords & melody, Tim wanted to challenge himself with the contrast: A technical & dark music project that would develop him as a music producer. Creating music as DiaVandy was simple as it was similar to making music playing instuments, by creating music as XYK Tim challenged himself to make music that was not natural for him to make, focusing on the technical side.
XYK have now had 3 official releases and the last one "Axios" climbed all the way to #32 on the Beatport DNB chart. By Clubstream records he is described as one of Swedens most promising DnB talents. An album is under progress and is soon to release its first single. Watch this space!
Tims mother introduced him to Photoshop when he was 10 years old and since then he has been a frequented user of it and is basically self taught. At the gymnasium he got the best possible grades when it came to all visual subjects as graphic design and photography.
With over 7 years of professional photography experience Tim moves between styles but has always found having a good eye for the human face. Portraits is one of his strongest sides and he always gives the pictures personality. He favorites analog cameras but for professional use he possesses a Canon 600D.
Since the beginning it was clear that creating logos and fonts himself was evident as he needed it for his own music. Thanks to this he has helped other artists get the personally made logos and fonts for their projects.
Similar to the logos and fonts Tim also has made almost every cover for his releases. This not because its the easiest and cheapest way but just because he enjoys that part as much as the musical part.
